Our donor partners
The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation, whose mission is to support the Hospital in its projects to improve care, enhance teaching and expand research, is one of 160,000 non-profit charitable organizations in Canada. As such, in 2010, the Foundation became one of the 100 largest organizations in the country.
In the past three years, the Foundation has donated nearly $28M to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR), namely to support the acquisition of new equipment, for laboratory fit outs, to facilitate higher education, to support the Hospital’s Research Centre, to grant start-up funds for young researchers and to support a very special project: The Centre of Excellence for Cellular Therapy (CETC).
Arising from the vision of Doctors Denis Claude Roy, Scientific Director of the HMR Research Centre and a full professor at the Université de Montréal, Jean Roy, Head of the HMR Hemato-Oncology Department, and Guy Sauvageau, Chief Executive Officer, IRIC, the CECT is destined for an amazing future. Spectacular breakthroughs at the HMR in the area of stem cell research have been highly acclaimed by the international scientific community and have placed the institution among the world’s leaders in the field. Cutting edge research that offers hope for the development of adjuvants for diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, macular degeneration, glaucoma, joint reconstruction, diabetes, heart failure or Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, to name but a few. Regenerative medicine that gives promise for health care that will benefit all Quebecers in future.
Since 2012, the Montréal Passion Vin event has contributed to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation’s goal of investing $12 million to support the institution’s Integrated Cancerology Centre. A plenary complex that will encompass all oncology-related activities in a single state-of-the-art clinic, and which will become the regional cancerology hub for the population of Montreal’s east end.
